Participants will need to have an enthusiasm to learn alternative cameraless photography techniques and print making, but do not need any prior experience or knowledge of photography. This is a fun, hands on, creative workshop for those who wish to try their hand at print making using cameraless photographic techniques. The goal is to create a small set of cyanotype and cyanolumen prints to take home with you. This is a hands on learning experience discovering the beauty of this print process. You will learn about the history of cyanotype, the chemical process and safe use of chemicals, paper coating for printing and working out developing times. You will also develop critical thinking skills, spatial-cognitive awareness and problem solving techniques: All of which are eminently transferrable to other fields of academia and the workplace
Cracking the Code of Kiel UAS means more than just understanding schedules and rules - it’s about learning how university culture really works and how you can succeed within it. In this interactive workshop, you will explore what is expected from you as a student, reflect on your own academic journey, and gain insights into cultural differences that shape studying at Kiel UAS. Through exchange, practical exercises, and guided reflection, you will learn how to navigate structures, find support, and make informed decisions throughout your studies. By the end of the day, you will not only better understand the “unwritten rules” of university life, but also create your own personal strategy - your survival guide for studying successfully at Kiel UAS.
Participants will need to have a working knowledge of cameras, but only need to bring a good quality laptop/tablet to work on. Denise's specialties are community documentary, socio-political commentary and photography used in a therapeutic context. This is a hands on workshop for those at a intermediate to advanced level, who want to work with high resolution images and have an interest in exploring the stories photographs can tell, with a view to creating a more lasting project with their own photographic work. The aim is to understand the context in which photographs are taken, how they are used to illustrate stories and how to present the work; with an introduction to self-publishing, editing images to print, the design and creation of a photo book, exhibition series, or presentation, of a personal piece of work
Life Writing
What is 'life writing'? Life writing uses lived experiences as a starting point for a fictional work. It might take the form of a story or a play, a poem or a song, a blog or a personal essay. You might take an element of a lived event or perhaps something from your family's history; it could be an event you witnessed or simply overhead. You'll be free to experiment, changing characters' names and the setting. What's true and what's invented only you, the writer, will know!
Small experiments in wind and water tunnels will be carried out for a deeper understanding of wind turbine aerodynamics.
