Dieses zweitägige Online-Seminar richtet sich an B2-Englischlerner, die ihre beruflichen und akademischen Kommunikationsfähigkeiten verbessern möchten. Themen sind Personal SWOT Analysis, Strategic Networking, Intercultural Communication und Presentation Skills – alles praxisnah! Day 1: Selbstreflexion mit SWOT-Analyse, Networking-Techniken für Karrierechancen und interkulturelle Kommunikation mit Fokus auf Irland. Day 2: Präsentationstraining mit zwei Praxisrunden und Feedback, um den eigenen Auftritt zu optimieren. Teilnehmende erkunden ihre Stärken, Karriereziele und Strategien, um diese zu erreichen. Die Teilnahme an beiden Tagen wird mit 0,5 ECTS belohnt.

Starting university in a new country can be exciting, but it can also bring challenges. This interactive workshop invites international students to explore topics of diversity, inclusion, and discrimination in an open and respectful environment. Together, we will reflect on different perspectives, share experiences (if you wish), and discuss how diversity shapes everyday life at HAW Kiel. The workshop also introduces the role of the Diversity Officer and the support services available for students who have experienced discrimination or have questions about equal opportunities and inclusion. Whether you would like to learn more about your rights, connect with fellow students, or simply listen to others' experiences, you are warmly welcome. The session aims to create a safer space for dialogue, mutual understanding, and empowerment. No prior knowledge is required, and participation in discussions is always voluntary.

Why do some people behave in a more sustainable manner than others? Are wealth levels or infrastructure availability, e.g. good bicycle paths, always the root cause? Or are there some deeper underlying attitudes and values concerning sustainable behaviour that lie at the base and may be subconsciously directing our biases towards the topic of sustainability. This short lecture seeks to address these questions by exploring several potential origins of sustainable behaviour. It is part of an ongoing study that analyses how shifts in attitudes and values shape our sustainable behaviour and perception by correlating datasets from two large international organizations: The Environmental Performance Index and the IMD’s World Competitiveness Yearbook.

In today’s globalized world, intercultural competence is a key factor for success – in academics, in the workplace, and in everyday life. Our interactive training Intercultural Collaboration offers practical insights into the following topics: • Intercultural communication – how can mutual understanding be achieved? • Working in intercultural teams – how can we collaborate effectively and respectfully? • Unconscious bias – how do unconscious patterns shape our behavior, and how can we deal with them consciously? • Navigating different work environments in Germany Through interactive methods, peer exchange, and hands-on exercises, you’ll discover how to use cultural diversity as a resource – to collaborate more effectively in your studies, navigate daily life with confidence, and prepare for a successful start to your career.

You'll also find out where to get support if you ever need it. No lectures and nothing planned? Looking for a break from studying and curious about Salsa? Join our Salsa Workshop for International Students during the Interdisciplinary Weeks (IDW) at HAW Kiel! Whether you are a complete beginner or already have some dance experience, this two-hour workshop on October 30 is a great opportunity to learn the basics of Salsa, meet new people, enjoy music, and have fun in an international atmosphere. Please note that Salsa is a partner dance and involves physical contact with other participants. If possible, we encourage you to register with a dance partner of your choice. Both partners must be students at HAW Kiel. Individual registrations are welcome as well. For pair registrations, please send a short email with both names to incoming@haw-kiel.de after registering.
